I've got a problem developing...

I stopped into Chautauqua Comics today to pick up the new issue of "Batman: Streets of Gotham" and impulsively picked up "Batman: Year One - Ra's Al Ghul." So, yeah... I've got a bit of a problem developing.

I started reading comic books as a kid and transitioned into DC Vertigo titles like "Sandman" as a teenager, though I kept on collecting Batman stuff throughout 'cause he's pretty goddamn awesome. However, I quit collecting at some point in college. Primarily 'cause I didn't have the cash, but also because so many other new things were vying for my attention and taking up time. Blah Blah Blah...

Anyway, a co-worker at FORTE told me about Neil Gaiman's recent "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader" right before it came out, which led me to pick up "Batman R.I.P." and a bunch of the various "Battle For The Cowl" comic books. Couple that with having recently purchased a discount hardcover copy of the "Watchmen" graphic novel and getting assigned to write about Free Comic Book Day a while back... And that spells Nick Dean getting sucked back into the world of comic books.

At first I was stopping into Chautauqua Comics infrequently, then monthly, bi-weekly and now once or twice a week... Not only just to pick up new issues of some of the series I've posted about here, but also buying Batman graphic novels and other stuff that I shouldn't spend my money on.

So, yeah. I'm quickly re-developing an old habit or obsession. Whichever, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Just wish it wasn't so goddamn expensive. Especially since buying Batman comics is quickly segueing into me wanting to follow other titles and storylines: Wolverine Noir and DC's Blackest Night just to name a few.
